SPONSORED BY:
WIPAN would like to thank the following sponsors, without whom, the WIPAN Charity Ball would not be possible.

WHAT IS IT?
This is your invitation to the First Annual WIPAN Charity Ball - an opportunity for all of our alumni to let their hair down, kick back and relax! Get in touch with your old class-mates and see if you can't spark the best reunion yet. Friends and family are also welcome to come along.

This will, unfortunately, be the last time Carol Wheeler can attend an alumni event, and she has now stood down as Chair of WIP. What better way to thank her for the marvellous opportunity and example she gave us than to come along and raise some funds for the Carol Wheeler Scolarship Fund.

Dust off those tuxedos, suits and ballgowns and join us for a great night's entertainment - champagne reception,  four course dinner and music provided by Derek West of U105FM. Our compere for the evening will be the brilliant local news broadcaster and journalist Aidenn Kennedy (Class 2002), who will also host the prize draw, where some fabulous prizes are up for grabs!

NOTE:
Please note that this is a Black Tie Ball and NOT a Black and White Ball as rumours have suggested.

WHEN AND WHERE?
The Ball is being held on
Saturday,
September 16th,
2006
at the Holiday Inn, Ormeau Avenue, Belfast
at 7pm
with our special guest, Ms. Carol Wheeler.

The AGM will also take place in the Holiday Inn from 1pm-3pm to facilitate this wonderful event.

THE FINAL WORD
This event promises to be a prestigious affair with over 150 guests expected to attend. Alumni members, local business representatives and honoured guests will experience a fantastic evening's entertainment including champagne reception, four-course meal and live music throughout the evening. All monies raised on the night will be donated to the Carol Wheeler Scholarship Fund for the Washington-Ireland Program (WIP) and the Youth Empowerment Scheme (YES).

With the generous support of our alumni members and local business WIPAN aims to enable WIP and YES to maintain and improve upon the high standards of personal and professional development they provide to children and young people inNorthern Ireland and Ireland.

The WIP is a US registered charity which provides a six month programme of personal and professional development, bringing outstanding students from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland to Washington, DC for professional internships and leadership training. Internships include US Senate and Congressional offices including Senator Hilary Clinton, Senator Edward Kennedy and Congressman James Walsh; the White House; World Bank; DC Superior Court; CNN; C-SPAN; and AFL-CIO Trade Unions.

There are over 300 graduates of the WIP who have their own alumni network WIPAN. This network is an association of like minded young leaders geographically spread across Northern Ireland, Ireland, the UK and world-wide. Our members are emerging as leaders in the fields of journalism, business, teaching and politics, and over 60 alumni are lawyers. Our overall aim is the promotion of public service and leadership in young people from all communities on the island of Ireland, particularly Northern Ireland.

The Youth Empowerment Scheme is a UK registered charity founded and run by WIPAN members for young people in Northern Ireland. Through mentoring YES promotes the social inclusion of children from religious, ethnic, socio economic and educational diversity. The scheme provides a neutral environment where children can learn new skills and develop lasting friendships. It also aims to address current issues faced by children through workshops ranging from anti bullying, anti racism and the promotion of active citizenship through social engagement.
